    • Carmen Sabatino takes office as Mayor of Modesto
  2. January 1st 2000
    • Supervisor DeMartini co-forms a PAC named “Modesto 2000 committee” formed to oppose Mayor Sabatino
  3. August 2nd 2003
    • District Attorney Brazelton files 10 criminal charges against Modesto Mayor Carmen Sabatino
  4. October 2003
    • Assistant District Attorney Carol Shipley is quoted in the Modesto Bee “I have heard from one member of the Board of Supervisors that they are unhappy if anything less than criminal charges come out of this case” while referring to the prosecution of Carmen Sabatino”
    • Assistant District Attorney Carol Shipley is quoted in the Modesto Bee “If Sabatino ultimately accepts a civil compromise, at least one supervisor will be upset”
  5. 2005
    1. Mayor Sabatino rejects a civil compromise that would have settled the matter for a $4,700 fine, a promise to stay out of politics and a promise not to sue the County.
  6. May 2006
    • Modesto Bee reports that “Supervisor DeMartini managed to find a seat near the prosecutors, on the other side of the courtroom security wall, to “experience the moment” he hoped would be a conviction on corruption charges against former Modesto Mayor Carmen Sabatino.”
    • A hung jury forced the case against Mayor Sabatino to end in a mistrial.
  7. July 12th, 2006
    • Press Release from D.A Fladager on the decision not to retry Mayor after his exoneration. “I realize this decision may not be the one some people were hoping for”
  8. April 25th, 2014
    • Supervisor DeMartini hosts a $100 per plate event called “In Support of Birgit Fladager for District Attorney Fladager”
  9. May 2014
    • Campaign Flyer from District Attorney Fladager campaign notes as a negative accomplishment for Frank Carson: (her opponent) “Defended former Mayor Carmen Sabatino”
    • In a Board of Supervisors Meeting, District Attorney Fladager took the podium threatened Mayor Sabatino, saying that further mudslinging could result in a slander lawsuit, stating “They are on notice,”
  10. 2014
    • In court documents, it is stated that the District Attorney instructed Kirk Bunch (investigator) to conduct surveillance against Mayor Sabatino by following him in a black SUV in an effort to intimidate him

    • Mayor Sabatino forms a PAC to Recall District Attorney Fladager
  12. May 14th, 2014
    • Mayor Sabatino is wiretapped by the District Attorney’s Office
  13. 2014
    • Chief Deputy District Attorney Marlisa Ferreira, seeks to have statements obtained in the wiretap regarding the Recall PAC, entered into the Carson Trial as evidence of Obstruction of Justice by Mayor Sabatino
    • Chief Deputy District Attorney Marlisa Ferreira, seeks to have statements obtained in the wiretap regarding the purchase of campaign posters for Recall PAC, entered into the Carson Trial as evidence of bribery by Mayor Sabatino
  14. December 2017
    • Mayor Sabatino is subpoenaed by District Attorney Fladager Office to appear in court regarding the Frank Carson Trial.
  15. January 9th, 2018
    • Mayor Sabatino responds to the subpoena in the AM.
    • Mayor Sabatino returns in the PM to listen to the proceedings. At the end he hears Judge Barbara Zuniga disallow the entry of the Obstruction of Justice and bribery charges against Mayor Sabatino, saying “it’s not going to happen – it’s out.”
